Google Analytics Tracking Module for OpenCart

This module for OpenCart provides a Google Analytics pageview tracking and ecommerce order tracking.

The ecommerce tracking, if enabled, only applies to the  checkout/success page after a successful order.

The pageview tracking, if enabled, is done for all pages.

The tracking code is automatically inserted into the HTML HEAD section.

 

Requirements

You need an account with Google Analytics.

Also, this module requires the installation of VQmod (aka Virtual Quick Mod) on your OpenCart server.

 

Installation

  1. Upload the folder and files from the 'upload' directory to your OpenCart server's root directory. No OpenCart core files are
    modified.

  2. Log into the OpenCart admin backend and go to
    Extensions > Modules > Google Analytics Tracking > Install, then Edit

  3. Enter the following configuration details:

    Account Number:
    Your Google Analytics account number

    Pageview Tracking:
    'Yes' or 'No'

    Order Tracking:
    'Yes'or 'No'

    Status:
    'Enabled' or 'Disabled', use 'Enabled' to have this module go live


  4. Save the changes

  5. If you use a non-default web theme on the frontend, make sure the file

    catalog/view/theme/your-theme/template/common/header.tpl


    has this line added somewhere between the <head> and </head> elements:

    <?php echo $tracking; ?>

    It has to replace the entry

    <?php echo $google_analytics; ?>

    if there.
